El Jaish Sport Club (QAT) vs. Al-Ahli Sport Club (QAT) 28:23 (10:10)
Asian Club Champion versus Wild card team and both from Qatar – this match guaranteed a good atmosphere in the beautiful new built Qater Handball Association Complex in the Capital Doha. Having their third appearance at the IHF Super Globe, the 2014 Emir Cup winner El Jaish will try to repeat their 2013 semi-final appearance where they had finished third. But Al-Ahli is the winner of the Qatar Handball Cup this year and so this match was very prestigious. Both teams played a first half with a really strong defence and both goalkeepers saved a lot of shoots. So the half time result was a 10:10-draw. But after the break the favourite from El Jaish lit a firework on the field and overran Al-Ahli in the first 15 minutes of this period. With six goals from 11:12 to 17:12 the team from the Asian Club Champion was on its way. This match found a winner after 50 minutes. The resistance from Al-Ahli was broken when El Jaish took the lead with 24:15. During the last ten minutes the looser worked hard, but this final good last period was not more than a cosmetic operation for Al-Ahli. El Jaish Sport Club won their opening match and took the lead in group A together with the Germans from Flensburg-Handewitt.
