Both joint hosts of the EHF EURO 2010 – Denmark and Norway – have reached the semi-finals, which will be played in Herning, Denmark, on Saturday 18 December 2010. And both teams will play against each other in their second match. Sweden and Romania will play for the medals in the first semi.

Surprisingly Sweden won the Main Round group II played in Lillehammer, Norway. Beating Norway 24:19, they outperformed their neighbours in the final ranking, as both teams were equal in points. France took the third place in this group and will face Montenegro in the placement match 5/6 on Saturday 18 December.

In the other group Denmark and Romania were already known as semi-finalists before the last match day. They both lost their final Main Round matches: Romania was clearly defeated by current World Champion Russia and Denmark lost their first match in this competition against Montenegro.

The final and bronze final will be played on Sunday 19 December 2010.

On Sunday morning the draw for the European qualification for the Women’s World Championship 2011 will be carried out in Herning. All three EHF EURO medallists are directly qualified for Brazil. Besides 16 teams compete in eight qualification matches for eight tickets to the World Championship.

The European Champion will also qualify for the Olympics 2012 in London as the first team after host Great Britain.
