The final tickets to London were handed over this weekend at the three Women’s Qualification Tournaments played in Lyon (France), Guadalajara (Spain), and Aalborg (Denmark). All hosts of those tournaments made their way to the 2012 London Olympic Games. Besides Montenegro, Croatia and Russia booked their tickets.  All 24 teams for both tournaments – men’s and women’s – are known now. 

For the Women’s Handball Olympic Tournament Great Britain (host), Norway (World Champion), Sweden (European representative), Brazil (Pan America), Korea (Asia) and Angola (Africa) had qualified before.

The draw for the Olympic Handball Tournament will take place in London (Chrystal Palace) on Wednesday 30 May 2012. In both – men’s and women’s tournaments – each six teams will play in one group.

 

In accordance with the IHF Regulations the seeding list for the women’s tournament is the following:

Pot 1: Norway, Montenegro

Pot 2: Spain, Russia

Pot 3: Denmark, Croatia

Pot 4: France, Great Britain 

Pot 5: Sweden, Brazil

Pot 6: Angola, Korea
