There are three different Challenge Trophies coming up in December to be organized by the International Handball Federation in cooperation with the respective Continental Federations. Two of them will be in Pan America, and one of them, for the first time in the history of the IHF in Oceania.

From 6 to 12  December 2010, Ipswich on the Gold Coast in Australia will be the proud organizer of the first ever men´s IHF Challenge Trophy in Oceania. 6 nations will participate on this event and the list includes Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, the Cook Islands, Samoa and the Solomon Islands. For most of the participants on this event, the Challenge Trophy will be their first presentation on international level.  The winner of this competition will go on to represent Oceania on the Inter Continental Challenge Trophy taking place in late spring/early summer next year.


On the other side of the Globe, Medellin in Colombia will be the organizer of the Men´s Continental Phase of the Challenge Trophy for Pan America which will take place from 8 to 12 December 2010. The best 4 teams from the previous tournaments participate: Venezuela, Colombia, Guatemala and Paraguay. It goes beyond saying that the winner of this tournament will also represent the Americas on the Inter Continental Challenge Trophy

And last but not least from 12 to 18 December 2010 Guatemala will host the tournament of Zone II of the IHF Women´s Challenge Trophy in Pan America, with Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador and Haiti taking part in this traditional tournament. The best two teams of this event will compete on the Continental Phase of the IHF Challenge Trophy in Pan America.
